PFClean Documentation System

OpenColorIO

OpenColorIO is used to manage colour transformations in PFClean to ensure clips are displayed on your monitor with the correct intensity and colour. It can also be used to transform clips into a singular colour space during export. Further information is available in the Colour Management section.

Configuration:

By default, PFClean will use the industry standard Academy Color Encoding System configuration to provide the available colour spaces, and will automatically set the colour space for your monitor.

Note: On Linux, automatic detection of the monitor colour space is not available, and will default to sRGB.

If additional configuration is required, Expert Mode can be enabled by clicking the toggle button in the OpenColorIO preferences window

Expert Mode:

When expert mode is enabled, alternate OpenColorIO configurations can be loaded from a file by clicking the Load OCIO config button. Configurations will be added to the drop-down menu where they can be activated for use.

Please note that if the OpenColorIO configuration is changed after colour spaces are assigned, those colour spaces may no longer be available in the new configuration. PFClean will warn you if this is the case, and any colour transformations on those clips will be not be applied until a replacement colour space is specified.

Additional ICC Profiles:

On macOS and Windows, your display devices should be detected automatically, but if they are not (or you are using Linux as an operating system) you can load ICC profile files here for your monitor by clicking the Load ICC monitor profile button.

After loading an ICC file, the corresponding display device and colour space information will appear in the Colour space menu below for your monitor.

Monitor Colour Spaces:

This section lists all connected display devices, along with the colour space and tone-mapping options that are available for each device.

If your display device colour space is not detected automatically, you can select it from the Colour space menu. You can also choose a tone mapping option if desired from the View transform menu, although if in doubt this can be left at the default "Un-tone-mapped".
